Kepola learned the basic skills of quilling while she was incarcerated. Her work started with a single simple flower petal. At YWCA O'ahu, Kepola grew as a quilling artist and designed her initial art project with a collection of five women reflecting YWCA’s mission of Eliminating Racism, Empowering Women.

Her work also celebrates the diverse people and cultures of Hawai'i. Kepola hopes her art will inspire other women who seek support from YWCA O'ahu to better their lives just as she did. Proceeds from this card will help YWCA O'ahu’s work providing women and girls a safe place to grow, thrive and succeed.

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is rolled, looped, curled, twisted and otherwise manipulated to create beautiful works of art.

Proceeds from this notecard set will go toward supporting YWCA Oahu and its programs.
